An ambassador for bold, expressive brush strokes and rich, immersive colour, Paul Wright is an artist adept in translating the world into a visual experience. Since graduating with a degree in Illustration from Falmouth University in 1995, Wright has honed an instantly recognisable style concerned with capturing the vitality of his subjects, blurring the boundary between likeness and abstraction.
Born in Leicestershire, where he continues to work today, Wright’s vast collection of portraiture, along with still-life and landscape paintings, have made him a global name, with his art featuring in shows across the US, Canada, and Brazil. In recognition of his innovative style, Wright has been shortlisted for the BP National Portrait Award on three occasions, as well as being in two published books, alongside numerous exhibitions across the UK.

In his works, Wright traverses the line between contradictory states with precision: recognisable though abstract, bold yet gentle, distinct yet malleable. It is through this painterly language that he invites us to glimpse the highly complex, entirety human inner world of his subjects.
